Ah, February

One of the best months of the year is upon us. February is always pretty nifty anyway, but February 2008 is especially cool. Here are a few reasons why this month is all-encompassingly awesome.

- The first Sunday of the month is SuperBowl Sunday, an event at which I hope and pray that Tom Brady will learn, once and for all, that members of the Manning family are to be feared and respected.

- February 5 is Super Tuesday; 20 states will be holding primaries that day and the results will probably give us a pretty clear picture of who will get the nominations in each party. I love politics.

- Groundhog day. Who doesn't love trying to predict the seasons based on a groundhog and a shadow?

- Lent begins on February 6 this year. I'm ready.

- My birthday, of course. February 17. Do not forget. Plus there's my birthday celebration with friends, which I am greatly anticipating.

- Black history month. I like it.

- Leapyear. How can you not love a month that has an extra day every four years? If I had just been born 12 days later, I would have been born on Leapyear. And that would have been cool.

- I suppose I should give a nod to Valentine's day, even though I personally don't like it much. I think it's a pretty dumb holiday. But it is fun to see pink and red everywhere.
