Luke 15- Unconditional Love

We are so important to God. Every single one of us. That's hard to remember sometimes, I think. In Luke 15 Jesus makes it clear that, no matter how many other "righteous" people are following him, God is still very concerned about the "sinners" and he rejoices and celebrates when even one person repents. That is just amazing, isn't it? So many times people screw up and feel so rotten about themselves, so worthless, and convince themselves that God could never love them. I want to tell you, that is not the case at all! God's love is unconditional, which is so, so hard for us to wrap our minds around, especially when most of the love we encounter in this world is conditional. When we feel like we are only loved by people if we please them, do things just right, and meet their standards, it is so easy to apply that same assumption to God and his love. It has taken me years to really understand and believe that God loves me unconditionally- even when I screw up majorly. It doesn't matter what you've done or what you haven't done- God loves you. He rejoices when you come to him; he desires a relationship with you that much. You are so indescribably special to him.
